The Indian equities extended day’s gain in late morning deal on Thursday, driven by rally across realty and consumer durables space, tracking firm cues from Asian peers. The sustained buying by domestic institutional investors coupled with normal monsoon forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) also gave a lift to market sentiments. Godfrey Phillips India, V-Guard Industries and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) rose over 4 per cent after the National Stock Exchange (NSE) announced inclusion of these stocks in the futures and options (F&O) segment with effect from April 28, 2017.

At 12:20 hour, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was trading at 29424.8, up by 88.23 points or by 0.3 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9135.8, up by 32.3 points or by 0.35 per cent.

YES Bank tumbled over 6 per cent in early trade amid concerns over weakening asset quality as its gross non-performing assets rose to 1.52 per cent of total loans, as compared to 0.76 per cent in the year-ago quarter. Net NPA too grew to 0.81 per cent from 0.29 per cent during the same period previous fiscal.

During the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intra-day high of 29453.06 and intraday low of 29341.68, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9143.9 and intraday low of 9102.65.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 409.00,+3.77%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1517.80,+1.87%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 182.55,+1.50%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 330.10,+1.35%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1459.55,+0.86%), among others.

On the flip side, ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 274.85,-2.17%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 491.40,-1.57%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 208.45,-1.28%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 659.55,-0.72%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 281.35,-0.42%), were among the top losers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, realty and consumer durables index emerged as top gainers, rising as much as 1.53 per cent and 1.08 per cent, respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2884, shares advanced were 1845, while 867 shares declined, and 172 were unchanged.
